Therapeutic Yoga with Sharon Holly (Guest Presenter Apr. 26-29)

The wellness benefits of yoga for both the body and mind are immense, whether you’re seeking to manage stress, get out of pain, recover from injury, improve sleep, or increase your flexibility. Certified yoga therapist Sharon Holly will lead a variety of classes at Red Mountain, including Yoga Nidra, Aqua Kriya Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga, and TRE®, plus a workshop on navigating the nervous system and customized one-on-one sessions. Gain a sense of empowerment and balance through these ancient healing techniques.

“In yoga, we rejoin the body and mind through the breath, as they often separate when we move through our daily lives,” Sharon says. “This separation can cause us to experience unnecessary stress, pain, and suffering.”

Aspects of the nervous system are weaved throughout all of her workshops. Guests will gain an understanding of their nervous system and how to regulate themselves throughout the day with basic breathing, mindfulness, and movement techniques to support their health.

A certified yoga4cancer instructor and the founder of Healing Breath Yoga Therapy, Sharon’s holistic approach to yoga integrates numerous modalities to help those suffering from various illnesses, chronic pain, physical injuries, and emotional disorders.   

“Yoga helped me on my journey with cancer and continues to keep me strong, healthy, and joyful through learning how to listen to my body and give it what it needs on a daily basis,” she says. “It’s a constant practice and I find that each time I go to my mat, I am inspired to bring the peace and calm that I feel with me into my day, helping me to live a balanced life physically, mentally, and emotionally. Yoga is a way of being and a way of living life, not just exercise.”

Event Schedule

Private Yoga Therapy Sessions ($125, 50 min. or $180, 80 min.)

A private yoga therapy session is perfect for those who are recovering from an injury, illness, or surgery, and anyone seeking to improve their overall wellbeing. Beginning with an evaluation and goal assessment, Sharon will work with you to create a customized class to meet your needs, plus written instructions for home practice.

Yoga Nidra (Friday, April 26 and Sunday, April 28)

Disconnect from the thinking mind as Sharon guides you through a series of ancient body, breath, and awareness techniques to release physical, mental, and emotional tension. The gentle practice of Yoga Nidra allows the body to enter the space between waking and sleeping, unlocking its healing potential.

Navigating the Nervous System (Friday, April 26 and Monday, April 29)

This workshop provides a simple overview of the nervous system and introduces a toolbox for improved sleep, increased energy, reduced stress, pain management, and overall wellbeing. Discover which tools work best for you, and become aware of your body’s subtle cues that let you know the nervous system is out of balance.

Introduction to TRE® (Saturday, April 27)

TRE® is an innovative somatic process designed to safely discharge stored-up tension, calm the nervous system, and encourage the body to heal and restore itself to a state of balance. In this workshop, you will learn a series of gentle exercises to assist your body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress while creating more resiliency for dealing with life’s challenges.

Therapeutic Yoga (Saturday, April 27 and Monday, April 29)

We know that yoga helps with flexibility, strength, and balance, but research now shows it can also boost the immune system, decrease stress, blood pressure, pain, and anxiety, and improve mood, sleep, and energy levels. Through body awareness, movement, and breathing techniques, learn how to bring yourself back into balance for overall wellbeing and self-empowerment.

Aqua Kriya Yoga (Sunday, April 28)

Yoga in the pool can be an empowering experience for those who have difficulty in a traditional setting due to injuries and physical limitations. Aqua Kriya Yoga supports the body by taking the stress away from challenged joints, stabilizing them to relieve muscular tightness and discomfort. It is also a fun opportunity for beginning and experienced yogis alike to add a new dimension to their practice.
