The Zen of Bird Watching

St. George, and the surrounding area, is a wonderful spot for bird lovers as it is geographically in the confluence of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin and Mohave ecosystems. Nearly 300 species of birds have been spotted in our skies, trees, canyons and bushes, and birdwatching is a great mindful, stress-reducing activity.

Join our expert bird nerd and experience the joy of seeking our elusive feathered friends. Acquire basic bird watching skills such as binocular use, locating a bird and the basics of identifying it. Use these skills to discover some of the 100+ species of birds that visit or reside in the beautiful Snow Canyon State Park. Distance walking is limited to approximately one and a half, very slow miles with much stopping and peering into bushes and rock piles! A real delight is seeing where Snow Canyon’s Peregrines nest.
