Although you may know that self-care is critical to well-being, it can be difficult to keep your tank full amidst the demands and stresses of everyday life. Your wellness retreat at Red Mountain is a positive first step, but the challenge will be taking it home with you.
The good news is that you are not alone in this struggle to make room for you in your life. I know how difficult this can be because I have a secret: I am a “recovering” trial attorney! In my early forties, I made the decision to follow my heart and redesign my life. This journey began when a health scare made me confront how I had been living on autopilot, assuming I had plenty of time ahead of me to find my joy and happiness.
For me, the answer was a career change from attorney to life coach as well as a move to southern Utah. I had a “life do-over” that began with getting clear on my values, passions, and gifts to share with the world. Added to this was my firm commitment to take better care of myself, discover how to say no to energy vampires, feed my dreams instead of my fears, and be present for the magic of everyday life.
You see, we all have a powerful flame within us that is the keeper of our life force. When we are ignoring and failing to tend to that inner flame, we feel vulnerable, frail, and weak. In fact, it was probably that inner flame that spoke to you about taking some time away from your crazy, busy life to replenish and recharge at Red Mountain.
When asked what surprised him most about humanity, the Dalai Lama’s answer is very revealing: “Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
My mission is to help you figure out how to really live by making choices that feed your flame and allow you to envision your dreams and go after them. I prefer to do this by having powerful conversations, either as part of a group discussion or in one-on-one coaching sessions. I truly believe you can learn so much by being willing to speak your truth and discover what strategies and tools have worked for fellow travelers on the path of living an authentic and fulfilling life.
Coaching is not about fixing someone who’s broken. It’s about clarity, taking steps forward, and having accountability and support to get to the next stage in life. While you could do this alone, you can make so much more progress – and enjoy the journey – with a coach at your side. It’s amazing how much insight you gain when you are truly heard, understood, and supported.
I am the perfect person to assist you with this because I do not have my own agenda for you. All I want is to listen, and then help you move powerfully toward your heart’s desires while protecting and feeding your inner flame.
