Laugh Your Way to Grace with Susan Sparks (Guest Presenter Jan. 11-12)

The Power of Humor in Life, Work, and the Spiritual Path

Laugh Your Way to Grace with Susan Sparks (Guest Presenter Jan. 11-12)

A trial attorney turned stand-up comic and Baptist minister, Rev. Susan Sparks is America's only female comedian with a pulpit. After spending 10 years as a lawyer moonlighting in comedy, Susan left her practice to take a solo trip around the globe, including working with Mother Teresa's mission in Calcutta, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, and driving the Alaska Highway. Upon returning home, she earned a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York City, where she wrote an honors thesis on humor and religion.

Currently the senior pastor (and the first woman in 170 years) of New York’s historic Madison Avenue Baptist Church, Susan performs across the country with the Laugh in Peace Comedy Tour. Her work has been featured in the O, The Oprah Magazine and The New York Times. A TEDx speaker and nationally syndicated columnist, she is the author of the award-winning book “Laugh Your Way to Grace.” Her second book "Preaching Punchlines" will be released in the summer of 2019. Susan is also a cancer survivor.
