So what exactly is MELT? The MELT Method® is a simple self-treatment designed to help you stay healthy, youthful, and active for a lifetime. Using a soft roller and small balls, MELT is like a gentle massage. It restores the supportiveness of the body’s connective tissue to eliminate chronic pain, improve performance, and relieve accumulated stress from the repetitive postures and movements of everyday living.

Red Mountain Resort offers full-body MELT classes as well as classes featuring the hand and foot treatments. In addition, you can register for the special anti-aging workshop or a private session for an extra fee.

Kim Watters, Red Mountain’s fitness manager, is a longtime instructor of the MELT Method. She says she receives glowing testimonials all the time: “Recently, we had a guest say she canceled a bunion surgery because she was able to make changes to her foot through the foot treatment and the bunion treatment.”
Kerrie Bodendorf is one of six Master Trainers, advanced instructors who train fitness professionals to become MELT instructors. She had the same experience. “Everyone told me I couldn’t cure my bunion and that I would need surgery,” she recalls. “Well, that’s a bunch of hooey.”
What’s more, Kerrie discovered the potential to heal other areas of her body. “When I began MELTing my feet, my lower back pain started to go away,” she says.

Meegan Descheneaux, another Master Trainer, credits MELT with helping her prepare for and complete her first triathlon. “The other competitors were talking about how sore they were, but I really did feel great,” she says. “I’m a dancer, so I’m pretty flexible, but you can only stretch so much. It was definitely MELTing every day that helped me recover.”
For the past several years, Red Mountain has welcomed the creator of MELT, Sue Hitzmann, who offers training to fitness professionals and retreats for both newcomers and experienced MELTers. While Sue and other MELT instructors are at the resort, guests can choose from a variety of free classes with top instructors as well as complimentary pre-hike foot treatments to help you get the most out of the daily guided excursions.
