Award-winning spa offers a natural way to sleep better

St. George, UTAH, September 24, 2018 – According to the American Sleep Association, insomnia affects 30% of adults with short term issues and 10% with chronic insomnia. Sagestone Spa & Salon at Red Mountain Resort recently debuted its new Sleep Tonic Massage, a treatment designed specifically to alleviate insomnia.

“Our goal is to create treatments that offer our guests transformative and continued results, well beyond their actual stay,” states Red Mountain Resort General Manager, Tracey Welsh. “The new Sleep Tonic Massage is grounded in proven holistic technique allowing guests to receive practical results that they can take with them into their everyday life.”

Sleep Tonic Massage

The treatment, lasting 75-minutes, begins with Himalayan Singing Bowls before delving into a full-body massage. During this deeply relaxing massage, eight acupressure points are gently stimulated with a focus on the areas where stress pools in the body: scalp, hands, feet and abdomen.

The long scalp massage incorporates two cranial sacral holds while crystals are carefully placed on facial acupressure points. Next, a great deal of attention is placed on hand and foot reflexology, followed by a gentle salt stone massage on the abdomen, which stores majority of an individual’s stress and anxiety.

The pressure never goes beyond medium to ensure complete and total relaxation. Probiotics, flower essences and essential oils are infused into the massage medium to treat the body from the outside in while an oral tonic works to relax the nervous system from the inside out.

“By applying efficient pressure to targeted areas of the body, the Sleep Tonic Massage facilitates the body’s production of serotonin which serves as a precursor for the body’s melatonin production,” states Red Mountain Resort Director of Spa and Wellness Marci Howard-May. “Melatonin is what causes the brain to quiet and reset, or in our case, fall asleep.”

Take-Away Gift

Guests will not only leave with a renewed sense of relaxation but also with the tools to practice the treatment’s techniques at home. Guests will receive a full retail-size Zen Blend oral tonic and crystals in addition to a guide for creating a nighttime ritual at home utilizing three acupressure points and pranayama deep breathing techniques to help unwind and relax.
