Red Mountain Resort Unveils New Outdoor Adventures

Press release

June 4, 2018

Red Mountain Resort, nestled in the heart of southwestern Utah’s stunning red rock country, invites guests to explore the outdoors this summer with two refreshing new hiking adventures. From a Mindful Hike that combines spirituality with physical challenge to a guided Alpine Adventure that explores the rugged terrain in the nearby Pine Valley, both new offerings provide guests with the opportunity to find solace in nature.

Mindful Hike

The perfect entry-level outdoor excursion, the Mindful Hike takes guests on a silent, gentle hike that combines the physical challenge of outdoor recreation with meditation and stress reduction techniques. Hikers will be able to fully engage all of their senses as they enjoy the beautiful desert landscape and its many sights, sounds, smells and textures. The hike will consist of paved trails, as well as uneven terrain with red rock, sand and lava rock.

This guided adventure also incorporates one of the resort’s more unique offerings, the Sound Bath experience. Utilizing Himalayan Singing Bowls that produce sounds of healing, deep relaxation and peace, the Sound Bath takes guests on a meditative journey of self-discovery and inner exploration. The perfect example of the resort’s commitment to balanced wellness through both spiritual and physical health, the Sound Bath is perfect compliment to this outdoor excursion.

The Mindful Hike will be offered every Friday, starting this June, from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. The cost of the excursion is $60 per person.

Alpine Adventure

In honor of Red Mountain Resort’s upcoming 20th Anniversary, the newly-debuted Alpine Adventure is the perfect summertime hiking excursion. Situated in the Pine Valley Mountains in the Dixie National Forest, the lush valley sits at 6,900 feet of elevation and is surrounded by beautiful timber-covered mountain peaks reaching an elevation of over 10,000 feet. Ponderosa Pine and Oak Trees cover the area, offering ample shade to hikers and cool, crisp mountain air with a lovely fragrance of spruce and pine. In addition to its beauty, hikers can also discover the history of the area, which was first discovered by Mormon pioneers in 1855 and would later settle the area in 1859 to establish a lumber mill.

The Alpine Adventure will feature two levels of difficulty for guests to choose from: Explorer and Challenge. Both the Explorer and Challenge hikes will be offered every Tuesday starting in June and will take place from 9:00am – 3:00pm. The cost for each is $135 per person and includes lunch. See below for details.

  • Alpine Adventure Explorer: The Explorer Level Alpine Adventure offers the perfect excursion for guests looking to have a restorative and self-paced outdoor adventure. Hikers will explore the Pine Valley Reservoir and hike lakeside along the valley floor. The 3-mile hike will include both paved trails and well-maintained dirt trails; however, the hike can also accommodate those requiring pavement walking only. Hikers will have ample time to photograph and enjoy interpretative explanations from the guides or simply relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The excursion also includes a healthy, gourmet packed lunch at the Santa Clara Creek. Hikers will also have access to restrooms.
  • Alpine Adventure Challenge: The Challenge Level Alpine Adventure is a great choice for those looking for a physical challenge paired with outdoor adventure. The 3.2-mile hike (6.4 miles round trip) will take guests to the top of the Pine Valley 10,300-foot summit, where hikers will be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the entire area, including Zion National Park and the Grand Staircase.
