Red Rock Retreat Encourages Guests to Lace Up and Start Hiking

This spring, Red Mountain Resort is inspiring guests to hike their way towards a healthier lifestyle, through an array of exciting outdoor adventure options that can’t be found elsewhere. With the resort’s experienced guides and close proximity to the most abundant and spectacular recreation areas in the country, guests can safely challenge themselves beyond their comfort levels by participating in an array of hiking activities that are both stimulating and personally satisfying.

The Outdoor Recreation team at Red Mountain Resort, led by Outdoor Recreation Director, John Ibach, believes that introducing guests to healthy hiking options in a safe environment results in a happier and healthier lifestyle. “We want guests to leave the resort with an understanding of why we love living in the desert, by hiking at a pace and level of intensity they are comfortable with,” states Ibach. “Guests are able to interact one-on-one with resort guides, and build up their trust through new experiences, such as hiking up a steep hill or descending down rough terrain.”

Through the resort’s popular Essential Retreat Package, guests can take advantage of daily guided morning hikes as part of their all-inclusive bundle, including the brand new two-hour Desert Nature Walk through Snow Canyon State Park. The resort also offers a variety of ever-expanding outdoor adventure hikes a la carte, suitable for all skill levels. Popular hikes include:

  • Native American Rock Art Walk (3 hours, $79 per person) – See with new eyes the rich cultural history of the American Southwest in this interpretive hike guided by Archeologist Boma Johnson. This three hour walk will take guests back in time to view hieroglyphics and the unique history of those who once lived atop the mountains.
  • Chakras, Goal, and Gratitude Journal Hike (4 hours, $79 per person) – With the picturesque red rock bluffs in the distance, this peaceful hike is ideal for boosting guests’ creativity and motivation. Participants can join guide Dave Dwulit on a four-hour journaling hike through nearby Snow Canyon State Park.
  • Tuachan Saddle (4 hours, $79 per person) – Just minutes from the resort, this five-mile hike gains nearly 2,000 feet of elevation and offers some of the most dramatic views of Snow Canyon State Park. Guests will hike along long stretches of sand, rocky ascents and descents, and a formation called Wall Street.
  • Zion Bike & Hike (Full day, $199 per person) – This active adventure begins with an ascent up the Pa’rus trail before connecting onto the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Stopping at historic sites along the way, guests will be able to stretch their legs and enjoy a few short hikes through Southwest Utah’s rugged terrain.

A member of the Red Mountain Resort team since 2006, Ibach brings over 30 years of outdoor recreation experience to guests at the property. He encourages prospective hikers looking for an outdoor adventure to speak with the guides before signing up, and inquire on the levels and paces that best suit their needs.

Only a short jaunt away from Las Vegas and easily accessible from Las Vegas McCarran and St. George airports, Red Mountain Resort is the perfect place for active travelers.
